North Oakland Cohousing: A rare opportunity to join a new urban cohousing community in the SF Bay Area

Now in site-search mode and open to new members. We had optioned a site, but a 2nd consultant thought it was infeasible for the group's unit mix.

• We currently have 10 equity member households and four associate households.

• We are seeking a site in the urban East Bay (SF Bay Area) near excellent public transportation in a walkable neighborhood. The state of the housing market may lead us to develop a retrofit site or a "distressed" condo project (whose developer was unable to complete it).

• Interested in energy-efficient, sustainable design, and affordability.

• Expect unit sizes to range from studios to 3-4 bedrooms with generous common areas for dining & meeting, guest facilities, outdoor patios, shared laundry, children's play areas, and . .

• We are singles, couples, and child-raising families of different ages and incomes, committed to collaboration, diversity, good communication, consensus decision-making, and respect: for each other, for the earth, and for all who live on it.
