Richmond Cohousing is a group of dedicated individuals working together to plan and build a “cohousing community” in Richmond, Virginia. We envision a multi-generational, pedestrian friendly neighborhood committed to energy efficiency and affordability. We plan to build our community within 6 miles of downtown, and to include private residences (ranging from small apartments to midsize homes), a welcoming common house, outdoor spaces, edible and native plant landscaping, and a playground. Together with our consultant, we are excited to begin our second phase – selecting a location and beginning to design our community!
Richmond Cohousing has been active for two years and has a committed membership base of over 10 households ready to take the next step towards making our plan a reality. We are teachers, nurses, chefs, volunteers, librarians, artists, event coordinators, retirees, gardeners, scientists, and community members. Richmond Cohousing looks to attract a diverse membership and welcomes families, singles, couples, and those wanting to age in place.
