Maxwelton Creek Cohousing is a community on South Whidbey Island in Washington, 30 miles north of Seattle. We are 13 adults and 3 children living in 8 homes on 21 acres of rolling hills, evergreens, meadows and a year-round creek. One of our homes is soon to be put on the market, and this is a rare opportunity to open our community to a new household.
Our community life offers amenities, and comes with significant responsibilities. In addition to sharing the stewardship of the common land, we collectively own a 1200 square foot common house with meeting space, kitchen, bathroom, guest room and shared laundry. Members participate in weekly potluck dinners, monthly business meetings, work days and other celebrations and special events. We are intergenerational, ages 8 to 72. We are spiritually focused and our practices are diverse. We make decisions by consensus, which works well because we are committed to honest and compassionate communication. We are unified in our stewardship of the common land, which requires collective decision making and shared work.
The home which is for sale was built as an English garden cottage and remodeled by the current artistic owner. You can learn more from a previous listing at:
http://strawbalecottage.weebly.com/index.html The current owners plan to list the home for $310,000 and are open to the possibility of selling without a realtor for $290,000. Once the home is listed, this option will not be available.
