Adams Creek Cohousing
Hood River

Come visit our newly acquired wooded property with a running creek on 2.4 acres in Hood River, OR. Our view is amazing of Mt Adams and the Columbia River Gorge. City services and amenities are within walking and biking distance of our property. Hood River County and Columbia River Gorge offer national forest adventures, wintertime sports and summer recreation opportunities. Adams Creek Cohousing is two blocks from an all-season public swimming pool, Hood River Middle School, the local hospital and Jackson Park. This is a great place to live, work and play for all ages.

Home to both Oregon’s highest mountain and mightiest river, Hood River is the Gorge’s basecamp for outdoor adventures, from hiking, mountain biking and skiing to windsurfing, kite boarding and rafting. With a population of about 7,400 people, Hood River has maintained its small-town charm with the restoration of many historic buildings, the preservation of locally owned businesses and an eclectic mix of restaurants, bakeries, breweries, delis, shops and galleries. A short distance away is the active Hood River Waterfront, a paradise for kids with a beach, swimming area, playground, bike paths and watersports.

Hood River is a one-hour drive along the beautiful Columbia River from Portland, OR, which offers an international airport, Portland Trail Blazers, Portland Storm and Timbers, performing arts, amazing shopping and plentiful public transportation.

Hood River Valley is known for its farmlands which produce apples, pears, cherries, peaches, grapes, blueberries and organic vegetables. The Hood River Fruit Loop is a 35-mile scenic drive through the valley’s orchards, forests, farmlands and friendly communities, attracting many tourists year-round. The valley offers a year-round farmers market offering local vendors’ produce, art and music.

Out of the 197 school districts in Oregon, Hood River County school district ranks in the top ten. Hood River also offers a community college.

Our growing multi-generational community is now welcoming families to collaborate in building a neighborhood for all ages intentionally designed to promote interaction among neighbors. We are especially interested in welcoming young families to our community. We believe that both children and adults thrive and benefit when all ages live in a community.

The design process for our community is underway. Part of our hopes and dreams is to have a net zero energy community. Shared electric vehicles and e-bikes are also a high priority. We have some fabulous cooks in our group and are planning to share many meals together in our common house. On the community grounds, a play area will be designed for our kids. Our community goal is to live lightly on the land.

We have contracted with developer UD+P and architect Grace Kim of Schemata Workshop to guide us in the development of our community. We are on track for a 2021 move in.

Become an associate member now and join us in our design workshops and have your voice heard as we design our common house, individual units and finalize finishing materials.

Visit Adams Creek Cohousing on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and our website for opportunities to join us at potlucks and open house events.
