Cohousing expert and architect Charles Durrett will talk about strategies for creating affordable cohousing for young families and older adults on Friday, November 2, 2018, from 4:00 – 5:30 pm, at Simon Fraser University. This is an exciting opportunity and the start of a productive conversation, one that will stimulate the advent of more cohousing communities in North America.
If you know anyone who lives in or near Vancouver, invite them to attend this FREE event.
“This talk will be the beginning of something much larger,” says Durrett. “It’s going to take cities, non-profits organizations, architects, and planners working together, and people are ready to talk. It is my goal to stimulate the creation of more cohousing groups who want to create affordable and high-functioning cohousing communities.”
Charles Durrett is leading culture change in America. He is best known for bringing cohousing to North America and has authored several books, including Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities (New Society, 2011). His firm, McCamant & Durrett Architects is focused on well-being through community and has designed over 50 cohousing communities in North America to date. The firm’s work has been featured in Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and a wide variety of other publications.
This presentation is in conjunction with the Department of Urban Studies and Department of Gerontology at Simon Fraser University. Seats are limited so RSVP through this link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/making-cohousing-affordable-for-families-and...
